Lactobacillus sporogenes: Probiotics by Thorne Research
Lactobacillus sporogenes represents a breakthrough in Lactobacillus supplementation -
a safe, stable, effective, L(+)-lactic-acid-producing organism. It requires no refrigeration
or special handling. Lactobacillus resists degradation by stomach acid, binds cholesterol
in the gut, and may inhibit the cholesterol-producing enzyme HMG CoA Reductase.
In the office, I prescribe Lactobacillus for people who have been on antibiotics in the past, and need to replenish the
'friendly' bacteria of the intestines that were destroyed by antibiotics. It can also be used for yeast
overgrowth. Many of my patients appreciate that it's easy to store without refrigeration.
